Don’t try to delegate everything at once in your law firm
You’ve reached the point where you’re completely overwhelmed. You’re running around putting out fires, everyone at your firm is asking you questions that you’re pretty sure you’ve already answered multiple times, and you’re so overwhelmed with the day-to-day you have no time to relax or even think. This was me too. And the answer is delegation.
But, before you rush off and start delegating everything in your firm, know that’s another path to failure and overwhelm.
Instead, start slow and systematically. Begin by delegating one or just a few tasks at a time. Make sure you follow our delegation guide to ensure you delegate in a way where your team members get it, understand it, and can do the tasks accurately.
Delegation is going to be an ongoing skill and task you have a law firm owner. There will always be more things that pop up. You want to make this a part of your weekly or monthly responsibilities. Ask yourself, “What do I want to get off my plate by the end of this month?” Then focus on that one thing you want to get off your plate. Slowly but surely, you will win your time and sanity back.
